Plastic Waste Collection in Schools and Villages

There is a need to educate schoolchildren about the pollution caused by plastics. This initiative is being implemented with the idea that if students at this age can become aware of the environment, then eco-friendly citizens of tomorrow will also happen today. This project educates school children about environmental issues, as well as the calamities that can result from them. Students are encouraged to bring their household plastic waste to school. This enables students to discuss the issue with their family members. This, of course, alerts family members about the pollution caused by plastic. Plastic items carried by students is collected by our activists. Collected plastic waste is forwarded for recycling.

In collaboration with the Cummins India Foundation, the project is being implemented in Pune city and ten nearby villages. This initiative is supported by the school administration, teachers, and students.
